Orlando Health Heart Institute Opens

Orlando Health is starting something new in patient care for the
community. The organization’s newest medical facility, named the
Orlando Health Heart Institute, has opened. As part of a new
approach to patient care the institute brings together doctors
surgeons and clinical staff to provide advanced diagnostic services,
the latest surgical and non-surgical treatment options,
comprehensive education and innovative research.
“The Heart Institute reflects Orlando Health’s vision of creating a
new model of care,” says Sherrie Sitarik, president and CEO, Orlando
Health. “While the Heart Institute will be integrated throughout
Orlando Health’s seven hospitals, many of the services will be
provided in the new facility designed around patients and their
needs.”
The new patient experience includes greater accessibility to
clinical experts, more coordinated and collaborated care, advanced
diagnostics and more timely results in a centralized downtown campus
location.
Inside the Orlando Health Heart Institute patients will find
Mid-Florida Cardiology Specialists and Orlando Heart Center,
now affiliates of Orlando Health, Orlando Health Cardiovascular and
Thoracic Surgery, The Heart Center at Arnold Palmer Hospital,
vascular surgery practices, advanced imaging and an accredited
cardiac rehabilitation program.
While the heart of the institute is cardiac care, with 150,000
square feet of space, the new building will provide a new model of
care for patients in other clinical areas and services as well. The
medical facility includes Level I Orthopedics, Outpatient
Rehabilitation, specialty multidisciplinary clinics, including
diabetes, Pharmacy, Guest Services, Patient Financial Services and
other services.
Cardiac Rehabilitation was the first department to move into the new
building. During the next couple of months various services and
departments will be transferred to the new building, located on the
downtown campus, at 1222 South Orange Avenue – across from MD
Anderson Cancer Center Orlando.

September 1, 2011. We will continue to provide you with the same
exceptional services you have come to expect from us.
Founded in 1968 as one of
Central Florida’s first cardiology practices, Orlando Heart Center
has played an integral role in the development, growth and expansion
of Orlando Health’s Cardiovascular program over the past 43 years.
We have been leaders in the community and have remained on the
cutting edge of technological advances.
We will continue to do so in our collaboration with Orlando
Health.
We have had a long history
of working closely together to provide outstanding cardiovascular
services to the region. This partnership will allow us to take our
practice and Orlando Health’s Cardiovascular program to a new level
– bringing great opportunity for new programs, services and quality
initiatives for the benefit of all cardiovascular patients. In
addition, OHC will participate in a larger number of insurance
plans.
Under this new
partnership, OHC will continue to offer our patients the same full
range of preventive, diagnostic and treatment services. OHC will
also continue to see patients at our four existing offices, with all
existing phone numbers, contact information and scheduling
procedures remaining unchanged for patients.
We will continue to provide patient services at Orlando
Regional Medical Center, Dr. P. Phillips Hospital, Lucerne Pavilion,
and Health Central Hospital.
Our diagnostic testing
services will still be provided at the same office locations but
will be billed as outpatient hospital procedures. Our staff members
caring for you in these areas and the services rendered will remain
the same. However, services provided in diagnostic testing areas
will be billed by Orlando Health as an outpatient hospital based
test, while office visits will be billed by Orlando Health Physician
